I attend a church (Lebanon, TN First Church of the Nazarene) where the pastor believes in revivals and supporting evangelists. He schedules at least two revivals per year. Recently, he proposed that there be a revival meeting where the laymen of the church preached. What a time! We happened to be in town that week and I am thrilled that we were. The schedule was very simple, yet somewhat out of the routine.
Wednesday PM---Prayer meeting-Pastor speaking
Thursday P.M.--No preaching-Singspiration--Rejoicing for the victories God WAS GOING to bring.
Friday P.M.--First Lay speaker
Saturday P.M.--Second Lay speaker
Sunday A.M.--Third Lay Speaker
Sunday P.M.--Baptismal Service--pastor (Gary Wilson) and testimonies from the congregation.
Each speaker chose the special music, hymns, sermon, order of service and held the altar call.
Each speaker (all in their 30's) met numerous times with the pastor for prayer, title and content and other lay speakers.
There were seekers at each of the speaking services, tremendous attendance and other means of support to the cause. The word now is that the church will do this again in the near future.
Thanks, Pastor Gary, for being so sharing and caring.
